Megan Vinther's "Race Day" was composed as a tribute to the childhood weekends she spent sailboat racing with her father in the Pacific Northwest. Race Day is a medium-up, straight-ahead swing chart built on a classic 12-bar blues form with some twists. From the first downbeat, Vinther’s music captures the thrill, momentum, and joyful chaos of sailboat racing.
